Two of the largest wet cat food brands, Friskies and Fancy Feast, have teamed up with Keep America Beautiful to create the “Together We Can” campaign to raise awareness among cat owners about the recyclability of pet food cans. The Together We Can campaign comes at a perfect time as 2010 marks the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, and the campaign’s goal of increasing the number of pet food cans recycled each year would be a great accomplishment to add to the celebration!

Pet lovers nationwide are invited to get involved and "lend a paw" to the campaign by participating in one of three ways:

RePURRposed GALLERY -  In February, select cat owners were chosen to turn trash into treasures and create their own “cat can art” out of parts and components of Friskies and Fancy Feast cat food cans. Up to 100 pieces of art will be displayed at The RePURRposed Gallery on April 14, at an invitation-only event in New York. Photos of the artwork will be posted on www.togetherwecanrecycle.com starting on April 14.

PLEDGE - Through May 30, pet owners can pledge to recycle their aluminum pet food cans. For every pledge received during this period, Purina will donate $1 to Keep America Beautiful (up to $100,000).

EBAY - Select pieces of artwork from the gallery will be available for purchase on an eBay auction site with proceeds going to benefit Keep America Beautiful.

Visit www.TogetherWeCanRecycle.com for more information about the campaign.
