ISLAND PARK — Get ready for some great shopping while traveling up and down Island Park's "Main Street" from Last Chance to the Village Crossroads. Three antiques and collectible shows will grace the caldera Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, July 23, 24, and 25.

A new antique and collectible fair promoter is in charge of the annual Pond’s Lodge’s antique show. Oklahoma’s Earl Hinton will be here the same weekend with his annual antiques and collectible show at the Buffalo Run RV Park and Cabins in Last Chance. And, Ashton's Bea and Doyle Phelps will host their fair at Island Park Lodge, using the open space west of the lodge.

The new Pond's Lodge Antique Show promoter is Alee Marsters, founder of Hailey’s Antique Market, which has operated in Hailey for 18 years.

“I have many wonderful antique dealers coming from all over the northwest and farther,” Marsters said this week. “Idaho is included of course, also Montana, Wyoming, Oregon, California, Utah, South Dakota, Minnesota, plus others — and even Mexico! They will have a huge assortment of antiques as well as some great garden art, everything from the ordinary to the extraordinary. And, a rug guy will be here from Arizona. A great meal can be found at Pond's Lodge — you can shop for antiques, then hang out and eat. I can hardly wait for the show to start as I am a collector myself and you just never know what you might find that you need!”

Dealers will offer all kinds of wonderful items, she said, including pine, oak, and primitive furniture, glassware, Roseville, Hull, and McCoy pottery, old oil lamps, cast iron, saddles and spurs, fishing creels, bronzes, garden art, collectibles, toys, estate jewelry, Western art, quilts, vintage textiles, and many more treasures. Marsters also runs antique shows in Nampa and Park City, Utah.

Hinton said he has signed up close to 30 vendors and they’re all excited to show buyers a variety of great items. Hinton’s expertise is in antique Native American jewelry, and he said he has a great selection this year for discriminating collectors. He also has vendors with a variety of Western antiques and collectibles to sell.

The Phelps always offer unique items that have many connections to Idaho history, in addition to unique jewely they make themselves from antiques, including gemstones and silver spoons.
